Lake Forest Academy

Lake Forest Academy Co ed Boarding School Information:
About Us
The academy fosters intellectual development and academic excellence in its students as well as promoting individual responsibility and a spirit of community. At LFA, students learn valuable lessons not only in the classroom and on the athletic fields but also in the dormitories, student center and dining hall.
We teach a full and inclusive curriculum in arts and sciences, but more importantly the Academy teaches kids. That is to say, the most vital event in the classrooms is not the mere transfer of knowledge from teacher to learner but the individual relationship that evolves between them. LFA prides itself on its small classes and its Advisory system which both promote a unique and productive relationship between faculty and students.
Academics
The entire Lake Forest Academy curriculum is designed to be a challenging preparation for college, and all courses are taught at what would typically be considered “honors” level at most schools. All courses are taught at a level that will prepare students for the challenges of work in Advance Placement courses. Academic expectations of students are high from freshman through senior years.
LFA is a community of great dreams and expectations. The school sets the bar high and it expects the students to achieve at the highest levels. At the same time, the school is ever ready to support, inspire and guide them in their pursuit of excellence.
College Counseling
One of the first major life changing decisions a student will make, will be where to go to college. That is why LFA’s college counseling department works so closely with each student as a partner in assisting in the college decision making process. As you move along in your college search, you will be provided with many opportunities to learn about yourself and develop skills to communicate that learning through essays and interviews. It is important, therefore, that you proceed thoughtfully and carefully. Do not rush your search; have some fun with it. Indeed, the more you understand about yourself and the college selection process, the better your ability to make sound educational decisions which will lead to the college that best fits you.
No college, no matter how big its name or how storied its history, will work for you unless its offerings, academic and social, match your needs and interests.
