Middlebridge School

Middlebridge Co-ed Boarding School Information:
Middlebridge Mission
Our academic day includes daily one-to-one tutorials designed to target written expression, comprehension, and language remediation skills. Daily social pragmatic classes allow students the opportunity to focus on their potential for social and emotional growth, independent living, and career exploration.
Philosophy
We at Middlebridge School believe: academic, social, and emotional growth occurs simultaneously.
• All programs must be tailored to the individual student.
• Strong interpersonal relationships are the foundation for creating a trusting and supportive educational environment.
• For students to meet potential and to create positive growth across settings, strong partnerships with parents and families are cultivated.
• Educators must be dynamic and work collaboratively with one another in order to understand how to best serve each individual student.
• Curriculum that is integrated across settings becomes reinforced and mastered by the student.
• Students must be taught to develop their strengths and utilize their talents so they can grow into confident and self-aware learners who are prepared for success in the global community.
A Middlebridge Student:
• Exhibits learning differences with average to above-average cognitive potential.
• Does not present with a primary emotional or behavioral disorder.
• Is 13-19 years old upon time of admission.
• Is at least 18 years old and possesses a high school diploma or equivalency for the post-graduate program.
• Demonstrates an eagerness to embrace the learning environment and adhere to all school guidelines, procedures, and expectations.
Program Overview
Middlebridge School’s academic curriculum is approved by the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The academic program consists of instruction in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art/Humanities, Technology, and Wellness.
Classes are highly interactive and promote student curiosity while presenting information through a variety of approaches and modalities. The academic program is success-oriented, which drives the selection of materials, the pace of progress through curriculum, designation of assignments and assessments, and the interactions between teachers and students.
Students attend a proctored study hall Monday-Thursday. Study hall allows students the opportunity to work independently and practice concepts and lessons learned that day. Our academic staff serve as proctors for study halls and are available to answer questions, address student concerns, provide additional resources, and to positively reinforce students as they work through individual assignments.
