Wilbraham & Monson Academy

Wilbraham & Monson Academy Boarding School Information:
About Us
For 206 years, Wilbraham & Monson Academy (WMA) has been a step ahead; we stretch beyond the norm, beyond the expected. From the enrollment of our first international students in the early 1800s to our current Center for Entrepreneurial & Global Studies and Bicentennial Scholars Program, WMA has always recognized the importance of providing students with a broad and diverse global perspective, while keeping tradition alive. Today, approximately 385 students from around the world live and learn on our 300-acre campus.
• rigorous academic offerings with eighteen AP courses
• our signature Center for Entrepreneurial & Global Studies
• the Mark R. Shenkman Trading Center, which simulates the trading floor of a stock brokerage. This facility is one of a kind at the high-school level
• The Global EcoLearn Project...a joint program of sustainable entrepreneurial ventures between the science and CEGS departments
• exciting and numerous study/travel abroad opportunities
• a vibrant (and fun) residential life program
• championship athletic teams who play on completely renovated fields and work out in the two-year-old athletic complex
• highly skilled faculty members who work closely with you in the classrooms, laboratories, and studios; on the fields; in the dorms; and during travel abroad
• the chance to be part of a happy student body, a community of students and adults who value the talents and accomplishments of the people of the world and who aspire to make the world a better place in the future
Academics
At Wilbraham & Monson Academy, partnership among students, parents, and faculty is a vital part of our mission. The alliance provides a nurturing environment for learning and personal growth. With the guidance of both parents and faculty, students are free to set their own goals, to take risks, and to strive for high standards both in our rigorous academic and extracurricular programs. Because we are a small school, students receive individual attention from teachers who know them well and are genuinely interested in helping.
Our approachable faculty helps create an environment in which students become well prepared not only for the challenge of higher education, but for life. In partnership with your parents and teachers, you will graduate from Wilbraham & Monson Academy with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and moral framework needed to confront a rapidly changing world and to thrive in it.
Campus Life
We believe in your potential, and we want to help you discover and unleash it. At the Academy, we nurture the whole person because we know that what happens beyond the classroom makes you feel good about who you are. As a part of our Academy family, you have opportunities to shine wherever your talents lie.
Residential Life
Boarding school is about community. A healthy residential community is the foundation of life at Wilbraham & Monson Academy. In order for all members of the school to live and learn in a caring and supportive environment, we must create a safe, healthy, compassionate, and respectful residential community of students and adults. Through frequent, meaningful interactions with adults, students learn through empathy to demonstrate respect for themselves and the community, integrity and personal responsibility, cooperation, conflict resolution, and the importance of positive leadership. By learning self-sufficiency through practical life-skills and focusing on the value of delayed gratification and frustration tolerance, students and adults celebrate hard work and challenges as part of a fulfilling, healthy, fun, and satisfying lifestyle.
International & Domestic Travel
Each year WMA offers exciting opportunities for travel in the US and abroad. It is a chance for students to experience global economics at work. This international exposure is an important part of gaining a greater understanding of the dynamism and interconnectedness of the global system.
