Wyoming Seminary Co-ed Boarding School Information:
Welcome to Sem!
Wyoming Seminary, or more affectionately known as "Sem," is the oldest coeducational independent college preparatory school in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
At the time of its founding in 1844 by the Methodist Church, "seminary" was a common name for school. To this day, Wyoming Seminary maintains a connection with the Methodist Church but accepts students of all faiths. Although religious instruction is not part of our curriculum, a required Upper School course, "The Bible and Western Culture," and weekly chapels are designed to challenge young people with the values of our Christian heritage.
A Challenging, Engaging School
With its distinguished brick and ivy-covered buildings, extensive academic offerings, dedicated faculty, 8:1 student/teacher ratio, invigorating athletic, fine arts and performing arts programs, up-to-date technology, and consistently high placement rate in the nation's top colleges and universities, Wyoming Seminary is known as a challenging, engaging school. We invite you to discover more about Sem and see why so many of our students and alumni have found their experience here has prepared them for success now and in the future.
The True, The Beautiful, The Good
Wyoming Seminary’s school motto, Verum, Pulchrum, Bonum not only served as the guiding spirit of Wyoming Seminary in 1844 but as the words by which we live today.
The values expressed in Sem’s motto stand in sharp contrast to the disintegrating codes of conduct in today’s world. And that is the Sem difference: we dare to teach values at a time when they are eroding around us; we stand for something, and are proud of it.
Mission Statement
Within an exponentially changing world, Wyoming Seminary dares to teach our students to honor and strive for the true, the beautiful, and the good.
